On Weekdays in Greenwich Market there are still a number of Arts and Crafts stalls (especially on Fridays) but we largely focus on Antiques, Collectables and Vintage.
Our weekday markets are more pushchair friendly, trade operates at a slower place, visitors and locals take time out at lunchtime to browse our stalls and enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants and pubs that surround our market. The Coach and Horses is a favourite, its seating area forms part of the market and its selection of beers and award winning food is recommended.
On Thursdays the market opens at 6:30 for early risers and antiques and collectables traders who scour the market for rare goods and bargains.
Fridays are a smaller scale version of our weekend markets with our traders mostly selling Vintage Clothing, Arts and Crafts together with a number of antiques traders.
Between 120 and 150 Arts and Crafts and 15 to 25 Food Stalls
At the weekend the market consists of genuinely creative traders who design and make their own products as well as specialist ethical importers and sellers who are properly accountable for their wares. The market operates around a core of permanent arts, crafts and food stalls but the majority of traders trade with us on a casual basis. Some of our casual traders are with us every week — others only a handful of days.
Over 700 small businesses trade with us every year from the market's 150 arts and crafts stalls — no one visit is the same — but our management style ensures that the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and characters of our creative community are always present but in an ever changing form.
We operate a Creative Priority System that is designed to enable Designer Makers to start up, flourish and grow - rewarding creative input into display and overall market ambience. Priority is given to traders who design and make their own products and producers of quality food.
In 2005 we launched the Arts Collective a co-operative body of visual artists who host a semi autonomous exhibition space every weekend.
