Our Creative Priority System is designed to enable Designer Makers to start up, flourish and grow - rewarding creative input into display and overall market ambience.

The system is a product of over thirty years’ experience founding and managing creative environments such as Camden Lock Market, Spitalfields Market, Gabriel's Wharf, Bishopsgate Goodsyard and Merton Abbey Mills.

The system is designed to combine with our intensive, hands on management approach to assist start up businesses. While we do not have a formal “off the shelf” market training package, the success of our approach is dependent on our ability to work with new enterprises and offer them practical advice, support and understanding. We work closely with local organisations to establish a network of referral, advice, progression and training that can be tapped and utilised by our traders.

Greenwich Market attracts shoppers by operating a policy that enables small, creative businesses, to start up, experiment and thrive. Our traders attract punters by creating an atmosphere of creativity, innovation, fun, quality and community.

When creative individuals decide to start up a stall selling products that they personally design and make themselves they take a risk. Overheads are high – they have to design products, buy materials, make and package the product, pay rent for their workspace, buy their food ... the list goes on. Greenwich Market's reputation and success is dependent on our ability to create an environment for such traders to thrive. Consequently, our management policy is designed to reward traders who design and make their own products and in doing so reduce the risks that they face.

Our system rewards creative input into stock and display. Each trader's display reflects their unique character. The creative energy which they channel into their display is crucial to not only their individual ability to sell goods to the public but the market as a whole because a vibrant, attractive market atmosphere is the sum of many parts. At Greenwich we work hard and consistently with traders (no matter how long they have traded with us) to make the most of their display.

Our managers apply our Creative Priority System through our Grading System stalls graded 1-5 each given different trading times.
